He came home with us yesterday after lots of driving. What a sweetie! But at 3 months, such a babe, too. We knew he first night home was going to be tough, but even after reading about it and being told, we still didn’t expect it. Jasper wasn’t happy with his kennel, and we couldn’t bring it upstairs because of its size, to be closer to us. L1 ended up sleeping on the floor in the kitchen with him. But, just as with a newborn, I’m sure it will all get better, especially after we get him some things of his own today. Too bad I have a jury summons! L1 & L4 will be on their own with our family’s newest addition while I sit in the hall of justice and try to explain that daycare costs more a day than they pay for jury duty. In the meantime, here are some more pictures of our new boy:

It’s Like Having a New Born

So this ‘ it’s a possibility but it will be a long time in the future if we actually do it’ thing kinda happened a lot sooner that you led us to believe at Yule!
Ooh, have fun with the newest babe! And I hope the jury duty thing goes ok.
Oh my stars… if is awesome. What breed? Or a mutt? I like mutts. Every night will get easier… trust me! Park & Recs have dog classes too when he is a bit older.
Wow! He’s adorable! Are the kids over the moon?
oooo… he’s a cutie pie! What sort of doggie is he? Does he have a name yet? Does he have that cute new puppy smell on his skin?
oh, duh. His name is Jasper. sorry for being dense. My brain flooded with “cute puppy! cute puppy!” and failed to read the words.
We did get Jasper much sooner than we had planned. It’s the way the universe worked out for us. He was adopted from a shelter, where he and his sister had been found at large. He is a mix of Australian Cattle Dog and Shepherd. We really wanted a cattle dog, and didn’t care about the mix.
The kids? They love him. For those of you who know L3, when we say, “get up and go play with Jasper,” he does! That is amazing.
Having only been the second night, we’re still struggling with the crate training, but I’d say that it got better. But oh! I’m exhausted and L1 won’t be home until at least 8 o’clock tonight.
Good God, he is ADORABLE! Congratulations! We’ll have to arrange a playdate sometime.
so cute! I think puppies are cute to trick us into taking care of them when they’re little and naughty!
so. cute.
he looks like my dog did when she was a puppy.
they are just as hard as newborns at first – but get wayyyy easier (and you can leave them home alone.
