That was one of the chants shouted last night at the Republican National Convention. I sat there in shock. L1 and I were watching it because we wanted to be more well-informed before the debates this fall. It was so frustrating. As Giuliani was discussing how McCain would help with our energy crisis and dependence on foreign oil, he said triumphantly something like, “And yes, John McCain will make sure we do off shore drilling.” The crowd cheered and shouted, “Drill baby, drill” and Giuliani laughed at it. Yes, let’s drill away for oil that we won’t see on the market for years and that won’t make much more than a few cents difference in gas prices. That isn’t going to help us NOW. Between that and the chants, “zero” referring to Obama’s “zero experience” leading, it was hard to watch. But we plan on listening to McCain’s acceptance speech, so there’s more to come.
Drill Baby, Drill?!?!

Bleh. Kudos to you for stomaching it. My blood pressure couldn’t take it.
And Palin scares the crap out of me. She’s more stereotype than woman.
You watched it?!? Eww!
Glad to hear that there is some intelligent form of life still in existence. Shame, shame on this example of unreal, reality TV like a bad episode of a Jerry Springer rerun !
Okay, I mentioned your post to Ron and he agrees with you that something needs to be done now about gas prices. BUT, he said at the same time, China is drilling off the coast of FL and we aren’t. He said we should be and that oil is a futures market and that though we would actually use the gas right now, we would use it in the future, thus bringing the futures market cost down. Remember Ron is a republican, don’t hold it against him, lol. He feels like we should do whatever we have to put a bandaid on the problem. Just a temporary fix to give us more time to research alternative fuel options. When the alternatives are sucessful then we can take the bandaid off.
I tried to watch McCain last night and I feel alseep half way through. A man that can’t raise he arms higher then his waist was doing nothing to bolster my confindence in his abilities to protect our country. Silly, I know. I respect what he did in the military, but I think he missed his chance to lead. He is too old now.
Just thought I would add mine and Ron’s two cents. LOL… which happen to be total opposite cents.
