- Reducing your carbon footprint and exercising at the same time (we rode bikes to pick up the kids from daycare one afternoon this past week)
- Drying laundry on the line–yeah free solar power!!
- Watching and hearing the kids play with each other (they ran all over the yard last night with each other, laughing)
- Planning a tree house for the whole family
- Eating father’s day breakfast out and having the kids behave
- The smell of fresh cut grass
- Walking to get our groceries for the week
- Making spiced almonds
- Eating almost every meal outside lately
- Dancing with L1 on the patio during dinner last night
The list could go on, but those are things from the past few days. What are your simple pleasures? Please share!
“So much time we circle the sky with one wing beating
Looking for a light that’s true
All our lives we’re chasing the night like it’s never ending”
–Gaia Consort, “Drawing Down the Moon”
-waking up and making our food for the day out of fresh simple ingredients.
-Knitting on my front porch in the early evening.
-reading my favorite cousins blog!!!!

Oh, nice! Let’s see…
– Gorging on homegrown strawberries because no matter how many you eat, you can’t possibly keep up with how many you pick.
– Taking a walk in the sun during lunch break.
– Reading your blog while I procrastinate.
– Wondering about the environmental impact of printing out my MS for agents… because I actually have reason to wonder!
Well, seeing as I’m 36 weeks pregnant, my simple pleasures include:
-Getting a good nights sleep
-Bending over without audibly grunting
-Feeling the baby kick (gently)
-Eating peanut M&Ms and assuring myself that they’re good for the baby because peanuts have “healthy fat”
T- You can eat whatever you want at 36 weeks! There are days when I would be happy about not grunting and I’m not pregnant!! Soon you won’t be and I’m looking forward to meeting baby.
TM-Walks in the sunshine are wonderful, especially with a nice light breeze. I’ll be thinking of you through the nasty query process.
K- I love your front porch! Knitting on it must be great. Do you get a breeze up there? And I love the “simple ingredients” of your comment. Simple is pleasure.
A few of my favorite simple pleasures are:
– Library day with the kids. Our giant bag filled with new treasures to read.
-Summer tomatoes. I’ve eaten 7 so far this week with just me and the salt shaker.
-My husband mopping the floor for me. My husband fixing my bike for me. Basically anything thoughful and unexpected that he does that shows how kind he is.
-A picnic with yummy PB&J’s.
-Fresh dill.
-The sound of afternoon cicadas and “june” bugs.
-Kid kisses.
-Singing REALLY LOUD in the car to Raffi.
I can relate to the query process. I’m taking my re-worked book to my writers group tomorrow before I submit. I call it the “rejection” process! Writers that I know and love have all shown me their reject letter pile…..one had 110 letters! Good luck! Shannon
Wow, simple pleasures are great. Shannon
