What we did for the weekend, in photos and words:
We put our tent (from L1’s childhood) up on Saturday and the whole family camped out in it on Saturday and Sunday nights. Both kids loved the camping, complete with a fire each night. L4 was so sad to take the tent down this morning, but it has been raining on and off all day. Both days were spent working on the tree house, which was “finished” this morning (read: safe for playtime, more next summer, possibly). Time was also spent baking on Sunday (almonds, bread, protein bars, hardboiled eggs).
L3 had some playtime with the little boy across the street yesterday. L1 and I don’t trust the boy for various reasons, and he is going into 4th grade while L3 is going into 1st, so they aren’t optimal playmates right there. But we really don’t want to let L3 continue to play with neighbor boy because we don’t trust him and because he is so violent in his play and thinks he needs “toys” all the time to play. Example of violence: everything becomes a weapon with which he tells L3 that he is going to kill him or that he is going to die. I know some may be thinking, “He’s a boy, that’s what boys do!” But not my boy. He does some aggressive things, but he just isn’t violent. He knows we don’t want him to play with neighbor boy, but the boy is the only other kid around that we know. Hopefully that will change with L3 starting at his new school this fall.
One last note–went to The Village Yarn Shop today in its new location and loved it. It is mow my new favorite LYS. And for the local knitters, they are having a fabulous sale all this week!! 🙂
