I love them! They will be wonderful for summertime, though I’m sorely tempted to wear them now, despite the fact that I’d probably freeze. Their story:
- The fabric is a sheet that I purchased at a barn sale this past fall. I don’t think the sheet was for sale, but was covering a table on which some other things were displayed. I had eyes only for the sheet, and so I asked one of the proprietors if I could buy it. (I blush at this memory, which is so unlike my usual self.) I was given an affirmative and the table was unloaded so that I could claim my treasure. I brought it home, washed and hung it on the line, then promptly folded it up and stored it among my other fabrics, dreaming about what to make with it. Visions of skirts danced through my head until:
- Soulemama blogged about some PJ bottoms that she made out of a sheet from a pattern in Amy Butler’s In Stitches. I requested the book through my library system (I love doing this lately: for fifty cents I can request a book from any branch in our library system to be delivered to my town library.) and waited several weeks for it.
- Even when I finally got to pick up the book and look through it, I was unable to get started on anything because I was still in the midst of all the holiday gift making. I finished up the second to last gift on Sunday, and still have one last gift to make. I’ll blog about them once they are done and gifted, as the recipient is a reader. The most recent gift:
- Finally, on New Year’s day I made the pants after L1 installed some lights in my sewing desk for me. They are bliss. I hope to make more out of some cotton flannel waiting in the fabric stash so that I can wear a pair before summer. (I thought of you while I was making this pair, Kim. 🙂 )
