Can you believe it’s December already? November seems like it just flew past, to me. Let’s get down to nitty-gritty of November’s energy consumption, shall we?
For electricity we were up .2kwh, a negligable difference. Are we finally steadying out? Who knows. With longer and longer hours of darkness, I’m sure we’ll see a rise. We’re working hard not to use our clothing dryer as it is such an energy suck. Most recently we’ve found another lovely benefit of the fireplace insert–we put wet laundry on the drying racks near it and dry them that way! The clothing is dried, the air is moister, and we avoid the electricity consumption. Whoot!
For gas we were up from .96ccf last month. But we’ve been using our heat, so not too bad. I’d love if we could stay at 4ccf or less per day for the winter. We’ll see how that goes. That’s what the insert is for, right?
For water, we’re down from a little over 62 gallons a day (6.2). Why? I don’t know. I haven’t had any brilliant ideas about that. Oh well.
L1 went a little crazy with the excel spreadsheet after we took our last read. He’s working on plotting out the entire year’s consumption. We’ve still got a couple of months before we’ve tracked for a year, but we’re still excited to watch our consumption. It’s amazing how much we’ve been able to change just through tracking our usage. We’re pleased, yet continue to wonder how else we can conserve.
Have any of you made or noticed any energy consumption changes of late? What have you done to create those changes–or are you just not sure?
