On Thursday last our kiddos packed their bags (with a little mama help) and happily climbed in the car with grandma for their yearly trek to the NYS fair. Though it happens every year, L1 and I were not really prepared for the alone time–two whole days of it. Truly, that first night we sort of wandered, running some errands and then coming home to typical evening activities. On Friday L1 went to work for a bit, and I worked at home (more on that on another day), then we cleaned the garage. Do we know how to have fun or what? We pulled out the stops for dinner that night, making 101cookbooks’s Double Broccoli Quinoa Recipe along with some fresh from the oven drop biscuits. If you like broccoli, pesto, or both, you must try this recipe. It was fantastic and when we told the kids about it they were begging, “Please make it for us!”
Don’t you wish you had been eating dinner with us, too?
The path traversed was lovely and we laughed heartily. And, of course, shared stories with the kids about it, too. Funny how that works with us-we all end up sharing our separate adventures in the end. I suppose, in that way, we weren’t really lost, but instead living and exploring with different eyes.
