Sometimes when I see my children engaging in their daily activities I have to step back and think, “Wow–I can’t believe they’re doing that! Is that really my baby? The one who said ‘You do it, Mama’ what seems like just yesterday?” (Note: It may have been just yesterday.)
Case in point is my boy and his karate. There were times when he just didn’t want to go, didn’t want to practice, wouldn’t take feedback on any of his moves. Upon earning his yellow belt last year it was like this switch was flipped and suddenly he began to take his practice more seriously. Of course there were still days of, “I don’t want to (insert practice, go to class, put on my gi)” but they have become fewer. And yesterday, yesterday I was able to watch just how far he has come.
