Much thanks to all the kind words and thoughts on the blog, in email, phone calls, texts, and tweets in relation to L1’s accident. Though he improves some everyday, our doctor deemed it necessary that L1 stay home from work for the rest of the week. He tried to work for part of the day on Monday and it was a disaster.
He’s whiling away some of his convalescence by researching a new commuting bike. The bike he was riding when hit, as you might imagine, is toast. He has his options narrowed down to two, and is waiting to feel good enough to test them out before deciding. We have been happy to find that his hub motor and battery are still functional, though the thumb throttle was sheared off at the handle bar. You can see pictures of what the bike used to look like here. Meanwhile, some pictures of the poor Trek in its current state:
Look at how NOT straight the frame is now!
I have pictures of L1’s injuries, too, but figured you wouldn’t want to see that nastiness. Everyday I am so thankful he wasn’t further damaged. I’m also looking forward to the time when our days feel “normal” again. The timing of the accident with school starting has just thrown us all off. We’re hoping to find a new rhythm soon. Have you found a rhythm in your September days?
