I.still.knit. I do! I know I haven’t show you anything in ages, but I’ve been working along with my pointy sticks in the meantime. I’ve even finished a couple of projects. Of course I’ve started working on others as a result, but we don’t need to go there. . . let’s just stay right here, with my lovely finished socks. They’re the second finished pair I’ve ever made myself and I am in love with them for two reasons:
- They fit my ridiculously skinny ankles without sliding/bagging too much. Yippie!
- They were such an interesting construction.
I’ll be making another pair of these as a gift this coming holiday season. In fact, the yarn for them is staring at me from the shelf near where I sit rocking at the moment. The low-down on these fantastic socks:
Pattern: Skew by Lana Holden
Yarn: Felici in Marsh by Knit Picks
There are SO MANY gorgeous socks yarns out there. I bought this yarn for a gift last year and ended up knitting a different pattern instead. I’ve been wanting just a plain ole stripey pair of socks for myself, so it was good that I changed my mind last December because I just pulled this stuff out from under the bed. Nice.
Mods: I only did 12 repeats (original plus 11 more) for the foot rather than 14 because my foot is smaller. Other than that I did magic loop rather than 2 circs and was happy as a clam knitting along. If you like to knit socks and haven’t knit these yet, I highly recommend the pattern, especially for those of you out there with a beautiful sock yarn stash. This is a great pattern for a variegated, hand-painted/dyed yarn.
As for my non-knitting readers, just enjoy my beautiful feet and knitting proficiency. Or just wait until I blog about something more to your taste. Or. . . be inspired and learn to knit!!
